Tom H. John is recognized as one of the most prominent designers in the film and television industry. He has designed over two hundred major productions and has received five Emmy Awards, plus the prestigious Peabody Award for Jo Papp's, Much Ado about Nothing. A few of his television credits include Death of a Salesman, Orpheus Descending, Sybil and specials for Barbra Streisand, Sinatra, Carol Burnett and Michael Jackson. His Broadway credits include The Wiz, Marilyn and George M. He has also designed ballets for Alvin Ailey, John Butler, etc.
His career also extends to architecture and interior design. He has designed interiors of restaurants, showrooms and private homes. He received the Presidential Commendation for the restoration of The Bando Hotel, The National Museum and The U.S. Ambassador's residence in Seoul, Korea. His credits also include the 'Laidley House' in San Francisco featured in Dwell Magazine. He is currently designing the 'State Suites' for The Plaza Hotel. |
